Good video - glad that you got an exit row seat! I'll say that I find Westjet's longhaul strategy quite baffling. Is flying less-than-daily from Calgary to places like Barcelona, Edinburgh and Seoul, really the best way to deploy their limited widebody fleet? This must be virtually all VFR/tourist traffic, which is not paying premium prices for these seats. I'd have thought they'd make more money competing directly with Air Canada widebodies on trans-Canada flights, rather than flying tourists to Dublin three times a week.

YGK airport still hasn't recovered from air Canada leaving, there's still no scheduled passenger service to the airport to this day

I don't like how my airport (YEG) there is barely any traffic. When I was waiting for a west jet flight to go to L.A this last summer and saw 1 plane take off (I think it was Air Canada or Porter, Can't remember) But I was really disappointed as all I could do was stare at my plane (boeing 737) parked at the gate waiting to take off. When I left L.A It was not all that disappointing, there were around 10 (in total) taking off and landing. I don't barely ever fly, but I would like to more. I liked the video and it was interesting to see west jet with the B-787. I would like to fly on a bigger plane one day as I have only been on a boeing 737 and a 757 (I think, it was YEG to KEF on Icelandair, the only sensible plane to make it that far and fit on YEG runways)

That GEnx was screaming. It's rare to hear them scream. But it is a long flight so the plane is extra heavy from the fuel.

No matter what, they need more 787/777 if they are looking to expand the long haul international destinations.. There are lot of potential Asian destinations from YYC like Dubai, New Delhi,Beijing, Manila, Singapore and Hong Kong

Used to love WestJet. Good for them that they're flying to Korea. They've become Air Canada wannabes. They've abandoned Charlottetown, Saint John, Moncton, Fredricton, Sydney, Deer Lake and Gander to name a few.

787 fleet is going to have a rough summer, on may 2nd we flew to rome and our flight was delayed by 2 hours, our initial plane had to be swapped for a different one and luckily they had another dreamliner in the hangar, otherwise our flight would’ve been cancelled. I’m not sure how they are expecting to run like this.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to add Seoul as a tag-along to the Tokyo flight, given the fleet situation?

What I have been seeing on various aviation travel channels, travelling in, within and out of North America (USA/Canada) is becoming less appealing and basic despite North America based channel owners best endeavour's to making it 'exciting' and 'appealing' especially on major airlines.

Had the exact same meal on my flight to FCO Rome last weekend. 😂 Can't wait to get on one of these flights out to Seoul! Love the content

Great video of WestJet's inaugural flight to ICN! The food looked quite good, despite the small portion. I am heading to NRT later this year on Air Canada and I booked seat 18H for the extensive legroom. I contemplated premium economy but opted for a preferred seat in economy. While I am not quite your height I do appreciate extra legroom on long haul flights. Well done, Alex!
